About the Installation
At the Elora-Cataract Trailhead — once the site of the Hillsburgh train station — something exciting is taking shape. Local artist Jefferson Campbell-Cooper is bringing the Station Stop Caboose Hop to life: a tribute to the railway that connected our rural town to the wider world, modeled after the rear platform of a traditional caboose.
We're building it for everyone. When complete, an accessible ramp will lead to the platform, a portrait cut-out doorway will frame the perfect photo, and an interior relief will bring the caboose to life — turning a quiet trailhead into a place to pause, connect, and remember. Come back on September 19, 2026, for the big reveal.
What Makes It Special
Designed by Hillsburgh's own Jefferson Campbell-Cooper
Modeled on the rear platform of a traditional railway caboose
An accessible ramp welcoming visitors of all abilities
A portrait cut-out doorway — your "selfie" spot on the trail
Honours the historic Credit Valley Railway and the people who built our community
Watch The Story
Hear the story straight from our neighbours. Tracks Through Time captures the memories, history, and heart behind the railway that shaped Hillsburgh — and the community that came together to honour it.
Help Build The Legacy
This landmark is a community effort, and there's still a way for you to leave your mark. We're raising $5,800 to cover materials, skilled labour, and landscaping — every dollar brings the Caboose Hop closer to home. Prefer to roll up your sleeves? Our build and landscaping crews would love an extra pair of hands.
